Der Vater des New Orleans R&B Henry Roeland Byrd, alias Professor Longhair (auch bekannt als „Baldhead“ oder „Fess“), bleibt eines der bekanntesten Klaviertalente aus Louisiana. Er wird oft als der Vater des New Orleans R&B bezeichnet. Sein funky, Rumba-basierter Klavierstil und seine herrlich tiefe und wilde Stimme belebten Nachtclubs und Festivals.
